| Com o objetivo de estudar a resposta do amendoim à aplicações isoladas e combinadas de N, de P, de K e Ca, realizou-se um ensaio fatorial 2³ para N P K, com aplicação do calcáreo em metade de cada parcela. O experimento foi conduzido no Município de Bariri, Estado de São Paulo. Apenas a calagem aumentou a produção significativamente. O potássio exerceu efeito positivo nas concentrações de nitrogênio, de fósforo e de potássio das fôlhas, embora a sua concentração não tenha aumentado significativamente em todos os tratamentos. A correlação entre teor de K nas fôlhas e a produção foi positiva e altamente significativa. |

| Para estudos da bioquímica da desnitrificação os desnitrificadores são cultivados em meio parcialmente sintético, com extrato de levedura ou de carne ou ainda peptona. Procurou-se então um meio de cultura completamente sintético no qual P. denitrificans pudesse desenvolver-se e fazer desnitrificação. Para tanto, células de um "strain" dessa bactéria foram crescidas durantes, 24 e 48 horas em tubos de ensaio contendo 10 ml de meio de cultura consistindo de succinato de sódio, nitrato de potássio, extrato de levedura o tampão de fosfato 1M, valôr pH 6,8. | O presente trabalho versa sobre um estudo de variação de Colletotrichum lindemuthianum (Sacc. et Magn.) Scrib., 1888, agente de antracnose do feijoeiro, uma das mais sérias doenças que ocorrem no Brasil. O autor isolou 19 culturas, de C. lindemuthianum de diferentes regiões do Estado de São Paulo e testou-as sôbre as variedades diferenciais Michelite, Dark Red Kidney e Perry Marrow, provenientes de Cornell e Beltsville, e sôbre variedades locais. A variedade Dark Red Kidney proveniente de Cornell se comportou diferentemente da de Beltsville quando inoculada com as culturas C-12, C-13, C-18. | The present paper describing a new species of Mycetia Reinw. ( Rubiaceae) is based on a collection by J. L. Lister in 1874—75 and subsequently by G. King’s Collector Badul Khan in January, 1890 from Dafla Hills, NEFA. The late Dr. G. King named the taxon Adenosacme listeri King MSS which was not published. Later on I. H. Burkill in Rec. Bot. Surv. India 10 (1925) 298 named his specimens ( Burkill 36423 & 37321) from the Abor Hills Adenosacme listeri King without description. | Com o objetivo de estudar a aplicação do sulfato de amônio em cobertura, em cultura de arroz (Oryza sativaL.), foi conduzido o presente experimento, em solo argiloso de várzea, da Estação Experimental de Pindamonhangaba, no Vale do Paraíba. Estudou-se, ainda, o efeito de doses crescentes de nitrogênio e de fósforo. Estudaram-se cinco níveis de nitrogênio, três de fósforo e sòmente um de potássio. A variedade foi a Iguape-agulha, e a cultura foi irrigada por inundação, como de hábito na região. Os resultados obtidos indicam grande eficiência da aplicação do sulfato de amônio em cobertura, quando efetuada entre os 30 e 50 dias após a germinação. | São relatados estudos efetuados nos municípios de São Sebastião, Caraguatatuba e Ubatuba, no litoral Norte do Estado de São Paulo, relativos à distribuição da cultura da bananeira. Os trabalhos foram executados com apoio em fotografias aéreas verticais, tiradas em 1962, na escala aproximada de 1:25.000. Estimaram-se os totais de 2.606 ha, ocupados por 2.377.500 pés de bananeira, localizados, quase totalmente, em solos das partes baixas da região. Cêrca de 60% da área plantada e 70% do total de pés estão localizados no município de Caraguatatuba. Correlações de clima, solo e outras de interêsse para a cultura foram efetuadas. |

| In Papua and New Guinea today a rapidly growing market economy, and a primitive subsistence economy exist side by side. Australian policy calls for more economic development and quicker advancement of the indigenous people. This means that tribal subsistence society must be drawn increasingly into the development of the market economy. Broad strategies for reaching these objectives are considered along with a closer examination of problems of land tenure, wage policy and planning machinery. |
